Some May Fall Asleep
03:56
|
|||
Some may fall asleep,
where in their bones,
they can only believe in
the woe as it goes to that place
and it feels like thunder,
so far away from what it is.
We can only imagine
and what takes hold,
like a seed, it must be planted.
But to brush off the stones that have fallen
you will find just pollen,
nothing but dust falling
And you will be loved, yes you will.
And like the seasons, move from darkness to the ones
who lift you up and take you back where you come from.
Every smart young child
will one day take hold
of the boundless weight of wonder
and be pulled from that place where they get so low
that they just can't stand it,
just to understand that
so many of the pieces of the world
can collide with what you think that you need.
But, what you know is but a piece of everything,
to push together from what's me
to what turns into you and me,
to what becomes what we believe,
what everybody really needs
and you will be loved, yes you will.
And like the seasons, move from darkness to the ones
who lift you up and take you back where
you will be loved, yes you will.
And like the seasons, move from darkness to the ones
who lift you up and take you back where you come from.

State Of Violet
04:17
|
|||
This is the season where
I press on a little farther
to another point to fix the push of my desire on
and this is the state of all the people that I love
looking to blame but without hurting anyone
So forget what you did when you wanted to win,
that was all that you wanted, and you got it.
And someone your age ought to do it the same
as your mother and father, like the way that they taught you
because finally, I think the times are on the mend
Yea I think it's happening again
you can feel it in the winds
like your bones when you were ten.
But it's not the time, to go repeating anything
No I think where everybody is
Despite the color that we're in
Is bending violet again.
So I watch your faces, I watch your friends, I watch your things
cascade in pictures as I read about your feelings.
And this is the state of all the people that I love
looking for faith, but without knowing anyone.
So forget what you did when
you wanted to win, that was all that you wanted, and you got it.
and look where we came from, the caves to the kingdoms
now the worst isn't hardly how you thought it
and I'm not so primitive,
the silly kid I was back then
is gone like the falling
of the leaves in the autumn.
I'm not so primitive,
the silly kid I was back then
is gone like the falling
of the leaves in the autumn.

Holding On
03:26
|
|||
I wake up every morning in this story where i'm seven people.
Seven different faces that I throw on like their outfits
but then sometimes, I can help it, one just wraps itself around me
and I talk a little different, not like a crazy, more a puppet.
Well hello, how are you doing, how's your day been, oh i'm lovely,
thanks for asking, have a good one, let's stay in touch like we keep saying…
and here's all of us holding on
between the person that you are and the way that you talk.
Here's all of us holding on, yeah we try our best keep up
With the things that we want.
Come and look at my collection, that last face was for the passing,
this one here is for my brother, this one, people who don't listen .
Oh and this one, it's my favorite, it's when I talk a different language,
different lenses, different fabric, make a person change so drastic.
and here's all of us holding on
between the person that you are and the way that you talk.
Here's all of us holding on, yea we try our best keep up
With the things that we want.
Try to picture your own voice, the way that you talk to yourself.
Think of all of the people who wouldn't believe it's you they’ve been
talking to ‘cause they need you to be more like the way that they picture you
and here's all of us holding on
between the person that you are and the way that you talk.
Here's all of us holding on, yea we try our best keep up
With the things that we want.
I walk on through my places with my faces and my situations,
phony like a facelift for the masses, for the tasteless
but for those who really listen I am myself, yes i'm maskless
with no lens, fabric, or plastic to cover up or come between us.

I Believe
03:05
|
|||
I've known people who go through their days
like a wide eyed old dog slowly crawling away,
fearful, watching the people go by,
never trusting anyone or taking the time
just to say hi.
There've been times when I acted this way,
when I needed so much, I pushed people away
only wanting the things that I had,
never looking for more than the way that I am
but now I believe in everyone I meet,
in everyone who shows me something I can never be.
And I believe in everywhere I go,
in how it’s all the same as where I came from.
You may find yourself running away
from an actor pretending to be what they’re saying.
But I've learned from the years I have seen
that the fool is who acts upon only one thing
and why I believe in everyone I meet,
in everyone who shows me something I can never be.
And I believe in everywhere I go,
in how it’s all the same as where I came from.
But what is more than what you want and what you need in anything?
And if you go to where you feel where you belong suddenly seems
so bloody awful when it's over and you're holding up your head
wondering why you bothered at all
but I believe in everyone I meet,
in everyone who shows me something I can never be.
And I believe in everywhere I go,
in how it’s all the same as where I came from.
And I believe in everyone I meet,
in everyone who shows me something I can never be.
And I believe in everywhere I go,
in how it’s all the same as where I came from.
Because what is more than what you love and what you learn from everything?
And if you go to where you feel so bloody awful all you need
is to go on to where you grow within the things that you have seen,
wondering why you worried at all.

Lately
04:24
|
|||
Annie, I hope that you're happy,
but I don't really care much for the house.
You can have it, mortar, tile, the granite,
and every piece of furniture that you want
because lately I've been taking my time,
watching as all of the lines get drawn between us,
and sister I've tried, but what's between us
simply can't change how I see you.
Savage, altogether tragic
to watch the way the world sometimes can be.
And Annie, I know that you're panicked,
but I don't really know what it’s you need
‘cause if you love me like you say,
then you'd be standing here,
where we could talk be clear
and not just disappear.
And lately I've been taking my time,
watching as all of the lines get drawn between us,
and sister I've tried, but what's between us,
it simply can't change how I see you.
But don't just act like we're over,
as if you will never be the same
‘cause there is nothing you could ever say
that you couldn’t say to me.
And lately I've been taking my time,
watching as all of the lines get drawn between us,
and sister I've tried, but what's between us
simply can't change how I see you.
Lately I've been taking my time,
I've been so lonesome that
I don't want to believe it.
And Annie, I've tried but what's between us
simply can't change how I see you.

Meredith
03:49
|
|||
How many times will I so close, be met with doubt?
A bitter man's cold fabric looks familiar to me now.
How could I stand to fold and end up in that way,
slowly like a freezing drip turned icicle in change?
Lady she found me headed head first into that.
She greeted me and just as quickly warned me.
Now, I've seen many eyes, so naturally I warned her back
and said you can't say what you're saying when you look at me like that.
Meredith what can I say,
sometimes these things get away from us
but I don't want to change just yet.
And lady, yours is your fate,
Meredith, do what you have to
I won't stand in your way.
Just promise you will
take all of the weakness in what we are,
push it away till it's too far
to ever go back to again.
And if there's a way for us to start,
if you can be here as you are,
I hope that I’m not too far gone.
How many times will I so close be met with doubt,
Pushed and pulled as if I were your curtain?
Now, I don't mean to whine,
but I can't do that to myself.
So, if you can't see what you're doing,
then I'll leave you sort that out.
Take all of the weakness in what we are,
push it away till it's too far
to ever go back to again.
And if there's a way for us to start,
if you can be here as you are,
I hope that I’m not too far gone.

Sheffield

I watch the steam from your tea glass as it swirls through the room
reminds me of the way the sun
twirls it's fingers through the summer air
and digs them deep into the pavement.
I watch the clouds break to pieces in the blue Yorkshire sky
reminds me of the way a flame
waves its fragile hand to softly paint
black-white ripples on a candle wick.
I know what I know, it can only have grown
from the roots of something older.
And all that I am is my tongue and my hands,
all the rest, it just ends up at the same stem.
Go like the rivers arm dancing its crooked form
out through the countryside where everything is light.
I wish that I could be half of that perfect ideal
just to be what I am
and nothing more
but I know what I know, it can only have grown
from the roots of something older.
And all that is my tongue and my hands,
all the rest, it just ends up as the same...
I watch my mind as it staggers and slips from my past
to somewhere long after today,
just to keep up with these restless days
and not be frightened how they're changing me.

The softest footsteps I have heard,
gracefully pushing legs that stirred
the summer air and both,
they purred like someone sighing
out on the ancient city street,
while cups of coffee, keeping beat
as gentle hands tapped down
to meet the painted porcelain.
And there my face, it was the clouds,
my hands below were folded trees
standing where everyone could see
that I was trying.
But when the palms they took a bow,
it was followed by the applause,
a crowd of pigeons taking off
and everyone, they were flying
because go we all to be entertained.
Go we all to be there remaining.
And Jason, pulling from his bag what had to be his second pack,
unwrapped it, matched it, threw his head back,
and pulled a good one.
The silver ribbon he then threw,
between the story we both knew so well
but loved the most when it was something that was spoken
And both spread like petals to the sun
and slowly turned into the clouds
as we both laughed and watched
the marble in the stairwell.
Talking ‘bout how it'd come to wear
from the day that it was laid
like the lines on someone's face,
you couldn't make that,
no, you have to live that
because all we are are things unwinding.
All we are are people trying.
All we are are people trying.

I grew up thinking when I got old I'd live for a family,
Just like the way my mother and father gave everything to me.
And who was I to ever wonder why, I took a love and gave a try,
I put my whole heart in it.
And who could ever be the same after such a big change,
I don’t think that I was made for it.
So, I moved on.
After some time spent on my own, a longing took a hold of my days.
And if who I was now was who I'd become, then I needed to change something.
So I decided I would reapply my mind to do the same thing I'd just done away with.
Because to live alone with only you and your desires
just isn't what makes me feel like who I am.
So, I decided that I would love to be forgotten,
walk away from every little thing that you think that you’re wanting,
because a feeling kept within yourself will bring you no where else
but by your lonesome self every time.
I know not every person out there can live by the same decree
And lovers and family aren't necessarily what every person needs.
But, take yourself and put it somewhere else,
I promise that you won't be let down once some time passes.
'Cause watch to find how when you give your time
even to friends or pets or just a silly rhyme what will happen with it
and why suddenly I would love to be forgotten,
walk away from everything that I think that I am wanting,
because a feeling kept within yourself will bring you no where else
but by your lonesome self all of the time.

Goodbye
05:32
|

Goodbye
Will you still want me in the springtime?
Will you still want me when the cold subsides?
And I can't help but wonder why
A guy with my mind
Means nothing these days.
So, goodbye. I must be leaving.
This'll be the last time anyone will see me.
Goodbye. I must be leaving.
This'll be the last time anyone will see me.
I tried, tried my very best
yeah but some folks just aren't made up
of the same stuff
that holds everything together.
I was once there, where as a younger man
I'd sit and watch it all with longing.
Stuck in the only way and people
that i've ever known,
I watched them clawing.
But I stood tall to find a reason why,
to give a try, I put my time in.
And I rose fast to just as quickly fall behind
and now all I can do is ask
after the years have passed me by,
wIll you still want me in the spring time?
Will you still want me when the cold subsides?
And I can't help but wonder why
a guy with my mind
means nothing these days.
So, goodbye. I must be leaving.
This'll be the last time anyone will see me.
